DIRECTIONS: From the A27 ring road around Chichester take the A286 into the town centre. After the railway station take the A286 West, the car park is on the left
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Chichester Train Station, Chichester Bus Station

ROUTE DESCRIPTION (Updated 16th July 2021)

From the North East corner floor 2 of the multi-storey car park head north over road bridge, at the end turn left on Walls Walk keeping river on right. At the end cross over road with care

Q1- On the ground what is the date on the RICS plaque?

Turn left on pavement to cross Chichester College access road and after 150m turn right on footpath, after 50m turn right on cycle path No 2, continue ahead and at right hand bend turn left on footpath to reach road. Turn right on footpath with College car park on right to reach roundabout cross college car park road to next roundabout. Cross road and turn left on Westgate on right hand footpath, at end bear right onto Centurion Way sign post Lavant 3 West Dean 6. Continue on this path for 1500m passing Bishop Luffa School on right ignoring all side tracks to go under road bridge, immediately turn sharp right up slope.

Q2- On Centurion Way information board where is access point No 9?

Through bollards to road turn right on footpath keeping houses on left and green on right and bear left to reach house No 13. Keep ahead to end of Wells Crescent, turn right on Worcester Road to end and road, cross road and turn left on footpath (Norwich Road) continue to end and the rear of Nuffield Hospital. Turn right on footpath to road turn left and immediately turn right over pedestrian crossing, turn right to cross Wellington road and continue ahead on footpath with playing fields on left to reach Chichester Festival Theatre driveway. Turn left and at front of the theatre turn right to front of Minerva Theatre.

 Q3- On bronze statue what year did Leslie Evershed Martin die?

Continue ahead to car park cross car park diagonally left to right to reach toilet block in corner. Through gate to take underpass and at exit turn left along Franklin Place terrace cottages to end. Turn right through park keeping City Walls on right to road turn right and immediately cross road to go up steps onto City Wall and ahead to reach Eastgate Square. Cross road turn, right then turn left into St Johns Street, take next right into New Town and first left into Friary Lane signpost Wall Walk. Continue to end and go through gap in wall to corner of car park and sign Walls Walk SE Quadrant. Go through gate and up slope onto Wall at the end exit car park to road (South Pallant) and turn right. Continue ahead to cross roads, on the corner of North Pallant and East Pallant is Pallant House.

 Q4- How many Dodo's (extinct bird) are sitting on the pillars of the house?

Cross road and continue on West Pallant, at the end turn right on South Street to reach the ancient Market Cross. Turn right on East Street, and take the first left into St Martins Street passing the Hole in the Wall pub and ahead to St Martins Square with the Old Men's Alms Houses and hospital on right, continue ahead to road. Cross over to Priory Road with park on right. Enter Park (unfortunately no dogs are allowed) and immediately turn right on footpath with Green on left to pass cricket pavillion. Ahead up hill to wall, turn left with wall on right, and ahead with play area on left. At end of bowling green turn left down slope towards the Priory.

Q5- On right hand side when was Chchester Bowling Club established?

With the Priory on left pass cafe and toilets to exit park. Cross road and turn left turn on Guildhall Street to reach road, cross road and turn right and ahead turn left up slope sign post North Walls footpath. Continue to end down slope and ahead to roundabout, turn left on West Street passing County Hall on left, cross road to bell tower and Chichester Cathedral.

Continue along West Street to the end of the Cathedral and turn right on footpath, at fork bear right to arch doorway into the cloisters. IF ACCESS TO THE CLOISTERS IS CLOSED TURN BACK AND EXIT THE CLOSE TO SOUTH STREET TURN RIGHT TO REACH CANON LANE TURN RIGHT TO CONTINUE WALK AT ASTERISK.* Turn left through cloisters, after 10m turn right and continue to just before the end, turn left into St Richards Walk. At end turn right into (Canon Lane) * continue to end to reach Bishops Palace entrance and Gardens which are good to visit (unfortunately no dogs allowed).

Q6- On left hand side arched wooden doorway what No Canon Lane?

Retrace steps back along Canon Lane for 150m through archway to South Street. Turn right and ahead to reach the Fountain Pub, turn right through courtyard and through archway, turn left through small car park and at overhead barrier turn right then left over footbridge to multi storey car park and end of walk.
